Crackin' into goodness? Or an un-eggs-pected health hazard?
Eggs are among the easiest to prepare ~ for breakfast, snack, or even dinner. Think tasty omelette with tomato & crab meat, or tuna & so on. I love eggs 🍳...until my cardiologist (had to consult a specialist a year ago to get a prescription and 'fit to work' cert after accumulating bad cholesterol from habitual fastfood eating) confirmed what I needed to eat in moderation. And yes, part of the list to cross out were butter & egg yolk. So it dawned on me that you reap lotsa health benefits from eggs for as long as you don't have health issues ( see 2nd image from the Mayo Clinic Health System). Eggs can be a nutritional powerhouse, depending on how you cook 'em, and what you cook them with. Eggs with bacon 🥓 several times a month? Prepare to be stunned by the health repercussions! As for my own heart cholesterol issue, my doctor confirmed that egg yolks tend to be high in saturated fat and cholesterol. Now that's problematic, not only for individuals like me with a diagnosed irreversible condition of cholest lodged in the heart, but also for other people who may have diabetes. I must've spoken w/ at least 3 cardiologists about egg's drawbacks. One of them had a rather laidback approach, reassuring that eggs may be consumed, though in moderation. The other practical piece of advice: veer away from pairing eggs w/ high-sodium and high-saturated-fat foodstuff like sausages, 🥓 and lots of butter -- a no-no. Happy healthy eating!
