Living in Peace, Anyway
"People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway." Not everyone will like us, understand us, or treat us with kindness. Some people carry anger, resentment, or burdens we know nothing about. They may frown, speak harshly, or make their displeasure known in ways both subtle and obvious. I've learned that peace does not come from changing those people. It comes from refusing to let their negativity take up space in my heart. I choose not to fight, not to get even, and not to return unkindness for unkindness. If someone wants to carry bitterness, that is their burden to carry—not mine. I will continue to be respectful, continue to be kind, and continue to live my life in peace. Forgive them anyway. Live well anyway. Be kind anyway.
