Filmfest Galore
I'm a movie buff. Had been for decades now, and still counting. Cine Europa 2026 just presented its initial lineup of films crafted by foreign filmmakers that spark awareness and invite reflection. I was able to catch at least three since the movie fest opened at Shangri-la Mall's Red Cinema. "The Waves" resonated with me since I tucked a degree in Journalism and well aware of the perils of press freedom suppression. Set in Prague during the last quarter of 1967 until Spring of 1968, and closing with the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia, the film mirrored a young working guy's social awakening. "The Four Mothers" presented inter-generational relationships and delved on a male author's dedication to caring for his senior mom and three other old women. "Sentimental Value" was a masterpiece that depicted family issues and how art can serve as pathway to healing and forgiveness. The festival movies are on a first-come, first-serve basis in terms of tickets, and running until the 3rd of June. Well worth spending your free time on.
