Two Sides of One Heart
We grew up beneath the same roof’s shade, Yet love was a prize unevenly made. You were the sun that lit every room, I was the shadow, lost in the gloom. Your steps were praised, your faults unseen, My efforts blurred in what could have been. A scale tipped heavy, unfair and true, Where every win was always you. I learned to speak in quiet sighs, To disappear from searching eyes. For no matter how I tried to start, I could not mend a broken heart— Torn not by hate, or sharpened blade, But by the love you never gave.
