rent day + cheap mangoes

Twenty-something, paying my own bills, no boyfriend, not really looking. I was at the grocery picking up rice and a small bag of mangoes (forgot the eggs again) and caught myself just being a person doing groceries. Whole. The cashier was complaining about cooking oil prices and I stood there listening because I had nowhere to be. My mom called yesterday and asked if I was still okay alone, the way she does every couple of weeks, and this time I said yes without overexplaining for the first time in my whole adult life. She didn't push. Which was almost worse. And now I'm on the floor eating last night's rice cold out of the container because nobody's around to side-eye me about it. #chooseyourself #softlife #filipinawomen
