The fever I didn't have

I filed a sick leave once when nothing physical was wrong. I typed 'low-grade fever' into the form because I couldn't make myself type the real reason. Honestly that stuck longer than the tiredness. A friend sent me a screenshot this morning. A bill in Congress for paid mental wellness days. Not sick leave. Their own legal line. I read it twice (the second time slower, like waiting for a catch). My fridge is humming. So if that bill had existed two years ago, I wouldn't have spent that afternoon convincing myself I was a fraud just because my tired wasn't the kind that came with a thermometer reading.
