Have you actually eaten today?

Be honest - have you eaten a real meal today? In this heat, food feels like too much work. A cold drink, some crackers, maybe chips from 7-Eleven on the way home. And you tell yourself you'll eat properly tonight. By 3 PM your head is pounding and you blame caffeine or sleep. It might actually be the fact that you haven't eaten since breakfast. Heat does something sneaky to your appetite. Your body is busy trying not to overheat, so it sends fewer hunger signals. You feel fine until you're suddenly not - dizzy, irritated, about to cry at something small. The answer isn't forcing a full lunch down. That's why this is hard in the first place. What tends to work: smaller things, more often. A boiled egg. A banana. Half a tuna sandwich. Yogurt with fresh mango. Cold noodles with egg on top. Nothing heavy, nothing greasy, just something with actual substance. What you drink also counts. Iced coffee and soft drinks don't really hydrate the way your body needs. They can actually make your appetite worse. Water with a pinch of salt, or coconut water if you can grab some, does more work than you'd think. If you notice yourself only eating crackers and walking around in a fog, that's not a small thing. Your body has been quietly running on fumes in aircon and forty-degree heat. Maybe try setting a quiet reminder on your phone. Not to eat a full meal, just to eat something at regular times. Even a piece of fruit. Your afternoon self will thank you. What's been your go-to small bite lately? 🥭
