A friend of a friend.

Sometimes how you are treated by a friend of a friend (FOAF) depends on your mutual friend (MT). If the MT introduces you with a backstory of shitty things, what kind of impression will that create for you? Remember how the group accepts you is their internal dynamic not your value as a person. If the MT does not respect you and the group treats you poorly then it's gonna be their collective insecurity. If it's a closed group they might think of you as a threat who will forcely take up space. Usually, this kind of group will throw a bad joke at your expense and the members will laugh in agreement. You can say "That's an odd thing to say out loud." or "What do you mean by that?" This is a nice but clearly way of putting up your boundaries by making them explain their rudeness. Whatever it is, you are never oblidged to engage. You can keep the MT but not the whole gang. Choose your circle, embrace your people. You don't have to make friends with everybody.🖤
