🎮🎬Are Sequels Getting Tiring?

I just finished watching a gameplay of Poppy Playtime and honestly… I’m getting tired. It feels like so many game franchises and movies keep making sequels without a real narrative reason. At some point it stops feeling like “expanding the world” and starts feeling like “we need another installment.” For example: Poppy Playtime is starting to feel like the “chase sequence” franchise. Bigger escape, louder tension—but not always deeper storytelling. Five Nights at Freddy’s (which I LOVE, don’t get me wrong) sometimes feels like the “complicated lore” franchise. I adore lore hunting. I live for theories. But sometimes it feels like information just gets dropped randomly either disconnected from the bigger narrative or buried in the background without a strong emotional story driving it forward. And that’s why I really appreciate FNAF: Secret of the Mimic. It doesn’t just sprinkle important lore crumbs—it actually tells a compelling story on its own. Even if you ignore the hidden details, the narrative still works. That balance is so important. It feels like so many modern games are trying to be “the next big thing” by stuffing in hidden lore and mystery instead of just telling a strong, focused story first. And don’t even get me started on movies. I hate when films make sequels just for the sake of “legacy.” Or when a show continues a story that already had a perfectly satisfying ending. Not every ending needs a sequel. Sometimes closure is powerful. Sometimes ambiguity is intentional. Dragging it out can actually weaken what made it special. And yeah, maybe it’s capitalism. Maybe it’s greedy companies sticking to safe, profitable IPs. But are there really that many creatives who can’t tell an original story? Wanna hear yalls thoughtsss #Fandom #Videogames #Movie #Geek
