Actor Archie Alemania has been found guilty of acts of lasciviousness in the complaint filed by actress Rita Daniela, marking a significant step toward justice for survivors of harassment. The Bacoor court sentenced Alemania to a minimum of one month and one day to a maximum of one year and one day of imprisonment. In its decision, the court noted his apology text message to Daniela as a form of voluntary admission and a key piece of evidence that supported the case. The ruling also ordered Alemania to pay ₱20,000 in civil indemnity and ₱20,000 in moral damages, with an annual 6% interest until fully paid. Daniela’s courage to speak up dates back to October 2024, when she filed her case and bravely recounted how Alemania made inappropriate advances after offering her a ride home. Despite the trauma, her strength and persistence have now led to a fair verdict. Her lawyer shared, “I hope after this, Rita will find healing and can finally move on.” Personally, I find this case both heartbreaking and powerful.
