Meta Ends Messenger Desktop App
Meta just announced that it’ll be shutting down Messenger for Windows and macOS starting December 15, 2025, and honestly, this feels like the end of an era. 😅 Users will receive an in-app notification once the phaseout begins, and according to the help page, there’ll be a 60 day window to continue using the desktop app before it’s officially blocked. After that, we’ll have to use Messenger through the Facebook app or the web version instead. Meta also reminded users to enable secure storage and set up a PIN to keep messages safe before making the switch. It might seem like a small change, but for those of us who use the desktop app to multitask or chat while working, this hits hard! 😭 Still, it’s a good reminder that even our favorite tools evolve and sometimes, change pushes us to adjust our habits and find new ways to stay connected.
