Choosing Who to Keep in the Industry

This industry isn’t for the weak. When I was starting out, I thought the way to grow was to please everyone—to stay connected, stay visible, stay agreeable. I was scared of being labeled snobby or hard to work with. So I tolerated a lot. But over time, it started eating at me and I almost lost myself. I had to remind myself of my own boundaries and values. And I don’t want to be part of the side of the industry that uses power to manipulate or silence people. Letting go of certain connections was hard, especially when I felt like I had less leverage. But I’ve made peace with it. If someone chooses not to communicate, that’s on them. As long as I know I showed up with honesty and respect, that’s enough for me. Now, I’m more intentional. If our values don’t align, I don’t force the connection. Connections are great—but not at the cost of my peace. The same goes with friendships too sometimes, it’s better to let go than to hold on to something that drains you. Now, I’m more intentional. If our values don’t align, I don’t force the connection. Connections are great but not at the cost of my peace. #friendships #contentcreation #industry #business #professionalism #boundaries #mentalhealth
