Stillness
I used to think silence meant peace. But in the quiet, my mind races. I can sit in a perfectly still room and feel like I’m drowning. Anxiety isn’t loud. It’s subtle and slippery. It creeps up between thoughts, twists around words, clings to decisions like static. What I’ve had to learn, slowly, and with some resistance. It is that stillness isn’t the absence of thought. It’s a space where thoughts can land and dissolve. It’s hard work, trying not to run from my own mind. But some days, I sit still long enough to notice the quiet isn't empty. It's healing.
