My Childhood Snack š„
Itās been a while since I last had kasuy. In case youāre not familiar, kasuy or cashew nuts isnāt just your average nut. Compared to regular ones like peanuts or almonds, kasuy has this rich, buttery flavor with a slightly sweet undertone. Itās softer, creamier, and somehow feels more indulgent. It doesnāt just crunch, it melts a little as you chew, and the taste lingers in a really satisfying way. I was instantly reminded of childhood memories today when I saw a street vendor selling some, just as I was heading home. I couldnāt resist, I bought a pack right away. One bite and I was back in Cainta with my mom. We used to go there together and would always make sure to buy kasuy, along with cassava chips and suman. It was like a little tradition of ours. Thereās something about the flavor of kasuy that makes it more than just a snackāitās comforting, familiar, nostalgic. And today, it felt like a warm hug from the past.
