My Childhood Snack 🄜

It’s been a while since I last had kasuy. In case you’re not familiar, kasuy or cashew nuts isn’t just your average nut. Compared to regular ones like peanuts or almonds, kasuy has this rich, buttery flavor with a slightly sweet undertone. It’s softer, creamier, and somehow feels more indulgent. It doesn’t just crunch, it melts a little as you chew, and the taste lingers in a really satisfying way. I was instantly reminded of childhood memories today when I saw a street vendor selling some, just as I was heading home. I couldn’t resist, I bought a pack right away. One bite and I was back in Cainta with my mom. We used to go there together and would always make sure to buy kasuy, along with cassava chips and suman. It was like a little tradition of ours. There’s something about the flavor of kasuy that makes it more than just a snack—it’s comforting, familiar, nostalgic. And today, it felt like a warm hug from the past.
