A Pause in the City

Earlier today, I took a quiet walk near Arroceros Forest Park—Manila’s hidden pocket of green. Just as I was about to head back into the city buzz, I spotted a bird perched calmly on a branch, tucked under the shade of leafy trees. It wasn’t doing anything dramatic—just sitting there, alert but at ease. Yet in that simple moment, everything around me felt still. In a city as alive and chaotic as Manila, finding a place like this is rare. Arroceros isn’t just a park; it’s a breath of fresh air—literally and figuratively. The trees muffle the noise of traffic, the birds bring music that isn’t mechanical, and you begin to remember what it feels like to simply be. Watching that bird, I realized how important it is to preserve places like this. We need these green spaces—not only for nature to thrive but for people like me, too. Places where we can pause, listen, breathe, and reconnect with something quieter and more grounded. I left with a lighter heart, grateful that in the middle of all the concrete and commotion, a small forest still stands—and a bird reminded me why it matters. #protectnature #greenisclean #birdsofmanila
